ILF attorneys Olena Petrova and Andrey Poddymai represented Boryspil District Consumer Society in a dispute against a large supermarket chain regarding the use of supermarket premises.
For a considerable length of time the chain has been renting premises from ILF’s client for one of their stores. In 2016 its space was doubled as a result of renovation.
The renter occupied the whole area but avoided either signing a new rent agreement, returning it to ILF’s client or paying for extra space. Upon examining relevant documents and correspondence, ILF gathered enough evidence to collect UAH 500 thousand in place of lost profits and evict the renter in the shortest time possible. The evidence also provided the basis for further negotiations that convinced the renter to sign a new contract and compensate ILF’s client for the lost profits as well as the expenses incurred during the conflict resolution.
