Over 5 years Ivan supports investment matters in energy and energy efficiency advising clients on the matters of contracts, transactions with municipal and state-owned property, public procurements and governmental regulations thereof.

Ivan has advised several first Ukrainian energy service companies (ESCOs) in their first energy service projects in municipal public buildings, incorporation of the first Ukrainian energy cooperative in Slavutych and prepared regional electric utility for operations in the new electricity market. His client portfolio also includes investors in renewables and waste-to-energy projects.

Ivan is Energy Law LLM of Tulane University School of Law. This allows him to apply international treaties and directives to create arguments in favor of his clients and to protect their investments where national legislation is ambiguous.

Additionally, Ivan participates the rulemaking for energy services and electricity market and makes them clear for the municipalities and consumers within UNDP and “Energy Literacy” projects.

Household solar power plants: who and why is inconvenienced by new legislation

On April 25, the Ukrainian Parliament adopted bill No. 8449-d, radically changing regulations in the renewable energy sector. Among other things, the law received amendment No. 24, which limits the ability of owners of solar power plants located on the grounds of private households to sell electricity at a higher price (the "green" rate) than that of electricity produced at conventional power plants.
